The ProApex apex locator represents an advanced, easy-to-use electronic apex locator for precisely determining working lengths during endodontic treatment.

The apex locator uses advanced AI chip technology to precisely locate the apical constriction. With multi-frequency impedance measurements, automatic calibration, and a large LCD display, this device accurately determines working length regardless of canal conditions for improved endodontic outcomes.

Apex locators function by measuring the impedance between two electrodes, one located on the lip hook and the other on the endodontic file inserted in the canal. As the file approaches the apex, the impedance changes dramatically allowing the locator to precisely identify the apex within 0.5-1 mm. Apex locators work despite the presence of blood, exudates, or irrigation fluids within the canal.

To use an apex locator, the lip hook is clipped to the patient’s lip to complete the circuit. The file electrode is connected to the endodontic file which is inserted into the access cavity and advanced apically. Audio and visual signals alert the operator as the file approaches the apex so it can be stopped at the appropriate working length.
